The wanderings and musings of a Geographer

Wonderwall

July9

wonderwallThis is your opportunity to ask geographical questions that you want to know the answer to,  I won’t be able to answer them all but I’ll try.  It might be that some of them link to homework or classwork tasks or it might be that you are watching the rain and are wondering why it is raining.  Any geographical questions are welcome.   If you’re on here and find a question that you know the answer to then go ahead and answer it.  Anyone managing to answer someone else’s question will get credits.   wonder-cover

Hi Miss, what types of things do you need to know to be a geologist or someone who studies orogeny or if you want to be someone who works mostly situated near mountains?
Thank you for putting this webpage here it is going to help a lot.

    Hi Bella

You’d need to study geology at A Level and then get more specific at university level.

When picking a university you’d need to look at the individual courses to check that they focussed on mountain building. This would probably mean studying somewhere with mountainous areas. In the UK your best options might be in Scotland or Durham.

    Good luck!!

Miss, what is the difference between stratus clouds and nimbostratus clouds?

  7. Avatar November 2nd, 2014 at 6:27 pm bella penton 8c Says:

Never mind miss i have researched it. In Latin stratus means stratosphere and nimbo means rain or mist so nimbostratus clouds are rain clouds in the stratosphere. Well actually i have researched other websites and they say different things so i don’t know if it is right.

Hi miss, I was just wondering, what is your opinion on global warming? Do you think it is caused by human activity or from natural things or do you think that global warming doesn’t even exist. Thanks!:-D

Over fishing means fishing so many fish that there are too few left and they can’t recover their numbers

Hi miss, is urbanisation when there is over population in regions surrounding cities? And is counter urbanisation when people move away for a long time into more rural areas around the countryside?

  13. Avatar December 9th, 2014 at 9:28 pm SianQuinn Says:

Almost, urbanisation is when people move from the countryside to towns and cities (towns and cities and also called urban areas).
Counterurbanisation is the opposite. It is when people move from us urban areas to live in the countryside 🙂
